While Frazier Healthcare is active in converting concepts into businesses, the majority of our investments are initiated after the initial business concept and plan have been developed. However, we have made investments in companies still in the conceptual phase and are willing to discuss the concept for a new enterprise prior to the completion of a business plan.

Where should we send a business plan?

If you already have a contact at Frazier Healthcare, please feel free to send your business plan or executive summary to that individual via e-mail or mail.   If you do not know who to contact, please visit the Team section of this website for a description of the areas of focus of our investment team and for their contact information.

Please note that when you submit your business plan to us in electronic, printed or other form, you waive expectations of confidentiality and non-use.  As a result, unless an officer of Frazier Healthcare Ventures signs a formal confidentiality agreement, which we only complete in limited circumstances and under very narrow terms, we cannot undertake confidentiality obligations with respect to your business plan or any other materials submitted to us for review.  Therefore, we recommend that you submit an executive summary that does not include sensitive information but identifies your team and provides enough information about your business, product or technology for us to understand the value-creating potential of the business.

If your project fits our investment strategy and portfolio allocation, we will contact you for further discussions. Please understand, however, that we receive thousands of business plans each year and regret that we are not able to respond to every inquiry or business plan submitted to us for consideration.

What is the process for deciding whether Frazier Healthcare will invest in a company, and how long does it take?
We strive to have our decision-making process be as rapid as possible, given that we are highly sought after by entrepreneurs and prospective portfolio companies. First, a lead partner is assigned to each prospective company who consults with other team members and technical advisors, as appropriate, to evaluate the opportunity. Once we have made a decision to pursue an opportunity, our review and due diligence process takes between one and three months and generally consists of the following:

1. First an assessment is made whether the opportunity falls in an area of current investment interest.

2. If the opportunity passes the first screen, one or more partners will meet with you in person to further assess our level of interest.

3. Next, we perform technical, intellectual property and other due diligence. This typically includes in-depth analysis of your company and industry as well as reference checks on the management team.

4. Assuming the results of the first steps are positive, your management team is invited to present to our partnership, and a decision is made shortly thereafter.

Whatever the outcome of our review, our commitment is to complete this process as efficiently as possible.

How involved is your investment team after the investment is made?
Our entire investment team is involved in each investment. Like most venture capital firms, a Frazier Healthcare representative serves on the portfolio company's board of directors, which facilitates consulting with us on the most crucial issues facing the business. This board representative is the lead investment professional assigned to the portfolio company for the duration of the investment period. We carefully assign the investment professional based on that individual's expertise as well as relevant industry experience. However, the portfolio company's management team has access to any member of the Frazier Healthcare team. As the company goes through each stage of growth, Frazier Healthcare will involve the members of its team with the most relevant experience for the given stage of development or challenge faced.

Would you consider partnering with other venture capital firms?
We strongly believe in syndication to get the right knowledge on board and to secure a strong capital base from which to grow or expand a company, and we regularly partner with other major healthcare venture capital firms.

After making an investment, how does Frazier Healthcare support the growth of its companies?
At Frazier Healthcare, one of our guiding principles is to work with fewer companies in order to have a higher degree of collaboration - and success - with each one. As a partner who is committed to add value beyond financial resources, we feel an essential way to assist a portfolio company is to participate actively on its board of directors and to always be available to the management team. We carefully manage the board commitments of our partners in order to maximize involvement with our portfolio companies.

With our strong network of industry contacts, we have been very successful in recruiting world-class executive managers to our portfolio companies. Our industry contacts include some of the leading figures in healthcare today, including industry CEOs, as well as clinical and regulatory experts, who regularly consult with senior management in making vital decisions about the applicability of a proposed product or service and the path to commercial success. We are also able to direct management teams to groups such as attorneys, auditors, regulatory consultants and actuaries that have relevant healthcare experience.
