Experience
Deep industry experience and domain expertise have been a hallmark of the Frazier Healthcare investment team since its founding and matches well with the complexity of the healthcare industry. The experience of our investment team covers the entire spectrum of the healthcare industry. The following experience is represented on the investment team:
- Private equity investing - More than 70 years of combined healthcare private equity investment experience.
- Design and implementation of clinical trials - Seven members of our team have been involved in or managed trials for Eli Lilly, GlaxoSmithKline, Genentech, Merck, J&J, Immunex, COR and Millennium.
- Former operating industry executives - Nine members of our team have been employed in the industry with such firms as Eli Lilly, GlaxoSmithKline, Immunex, ICOS, Millennium, COR, Affymax, Quinton Instruments, Medtronic, First Health and Ventritex.
- Product development and launch - Ten members of our team have been involved in developing and launching products, such as Integrilin, Cialis, Velcade and Enbrel, at leading biotech, pharma and medical device companies.
- Regulatory - Five members of our team have direct experience in working with the FDA to achieve approval of clinical development programs in both devices and drugs.
- M.D.s - Five members of our team are M.D.'s. Two in the field of cardiology, two in internal medicine, and one in biochemistry.
- Academia - Four members of our team have been on the faculty of leading medical schools: University of Washington, University of Michigan, Harvard University, Stanford University and Indiana University.
Since the formation of Frazier Healthcare Ventures over fifteen years ago the firm has leveraged its core investment team by engaging a number of experienced senior executives, successful entrepreneurs, and leading scientists as members of its affiliate team. Affiliate team participants perform a variety of full time and part time roles as Senior Advisors, Venture Partners, Executive-In-Residences and/or key members of start-up teams. These experienced individuals provide industrial, technical, clinical, and regulatory input to our sector groups and portfolio companies and often get directly involved with launching new companies. They bring unique perspectives and valuable insights from years of experience in the industry as well as deep industry networks that benefit both the Frazier Healthcare investment team and portfolio companies.
