Medical Devices
We have invested in the medical device sector since 1991. Due to our long track record of investing in this sector, we have built up a strong and deep network of industry contacts that enables us to recruit good management and develop partnerships with potential acquirers.

Medical device companies enjoy an overall lower risk profile than biopharma companies due to lower regulatory hurdles, lower risk of toxicity/harm to the patient and often lower efficacy risk. These attributes contribute to the attractiveness of this sector. Characteristics that we look for in a medical device investment opportunity include:
  • Large market potential: We are interested in U.S. markets greater than $500 million.

  • Products that address a large unmet medical need, with low adoption hurdles: We prefer products in therapeutic areas that are supported by healthcare professionals who are open to innovative therapies.

  • Modest capital requirements for clinical proof of principle: We focus our efforts on identifying opportunities where substantial risk can be reduced with the first round of funding. Therefore, we seek opportunities with a lead program that is either in the clinic or can rapidly achieve a value-building clinical milestone with our investment.
